Why join Rotary?

People join Rotary because they have an active desire to serve their local community and the wider world in general because they feel that it is in sharing time and effort for the good of others is a good ideal to live by. Rotary organises projects as in this photo showing just some of the thousands of shoe boxes, filled with diverse necessities and luxuries for distribution in Albania and Kosova, which Gosport Rotary has organised for several years.

When we have raised money, which we do in many ways, from the traditional Jumble sales, stands at shows and fairs, Christmas collections and anything else we can think of, we find deserving individuals and charities to benefit, as in these trikes and scooters for handicapped local children.

We paid for the fountain in the Falkland Memorial Gardens at Gosport Ferry, and installed a machine for people to pay to turn on the fountain with greater force. This is an on going method of raising money.

Our organisation is open to all and the new millennium saw our first lady President Joanne Watts installed.
We welcome new members as they are the next generation of Rotarians who will carry the proud traditions of over 100 years in to future.

We organise an event called "Youth Speaks", where local pupils are set the difficult task of preparing and giving an informative talk involving a presenter, a main speaker and a vote of thanks. Speaking in public is never easy and the enthusiasm and diligence with which our young people enter our competition is a cause for great pride.
